Courtney Nelson, OTD, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist

When describing occupational therapy (OT), I usually separate the definition into 2 parts: occupation and therapy. Occupations are meaningful activities that occupy time in one’s day/life. Therapy is the process of helping people (re)engage in those activities. Putting that together, OT supports people to do what they need and want to do. Some of these things may include building skills for emotional regulation, executive functioning, toileting, self-care, playing, making friends, self-advocacy, and more.

At Adagio House, we take the time to holistically consider each individual and their family/caregiver needs. This scale of impactfulness is what drew me to become an occupational therapist in the first place.

I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to join the team at Adagio House and implement OT in a client-centered, community-based setting. Through authentic engagement, I am dedicated to promoting client, population, and environment health and wellness (in all domains).

Wellness promotion will be different for everyone and will look different in different seasons of life. Some ways I promote my own wellness include spending time with nature, spending time with others (and with myself), and learning.
