Sydney Iwanski
Resident in Counseling
I’m honored and excited to continue working at Adagio House as a Resident-In-Counseling! I attended JMU and graduated with a degree in clinical mental health counseling.
As an inquisitive child by nature, I often got in trouble for eavesdropping on others’ conversations. Though I no longer stick my nose in other people’s discussions, my curiosity about people and their experiences never went away. And what I’ve come to understand so far is that we are all doing our best to navigate, and learn from, the challenging situations that we encounter. Luckily, we don’t have to do it all alone.
As a person-centered counselor, my hope is to always meet clients where they are – which often requires me to draw on techniques from a variety of therapeutic modalities. Compassion, non-judgment, and curiosity remain the core of my approach. I believe these are the qualities that encourage self-discovery within the context of a nurturing and safe space.
